day 17 : chapter 2, three gorges tour -白帝城 神龙峡

Breakfast was at 6.30am therefore we have to wake up at 5.30!
白帝城
Alight the cruise at 7.30 and took the bus to our first destination - 白帝城 . The people there have the culture of putting their coffin high up the cliff after burrowing them for 3years. When they put their coffin on the cliff, the deceased friends and relatives would dance and sing for him/her hopping that he or she will lead a happy life in the afterworld. Also i threw some money into the display coffin as they believe in the Chines proverb - 升官发财。
Three gorges

Lunch was at the cruise. We saw the third gorges shortly after the cruise leave 白帝城  and the scenery behind their 10 dollar RMB was simply beyond words. We hopped onto a smaller boat at a ferry terminal after lunch and finally arrived at 神龙峡. Over there, we were rowed by guys in a small wooden boat and had a close view to our surrounding nature.
The beauty of the nature that we experienced was mesmerizing. The air and water was so clean that when i dipped my hand into the stream water, it was odorless and soothing.

we headed back to our cruise after that and it was the end of our day. Dinner inside the cruise as usual. The ship serve very simple and plain meals. At around 10pm, we went onto the balcony and saw the opening of the dam gate for the ship to pass through. During the process, water would be pumped so that the water level matches the level of the next path that we are going to sail through.

Reflection: i realize that there are still people out there who are still living in poverty struggling to survive each day. The native people living at 神龙峡 has no access to television and i presume they have very little contact to the outside world. We should be happy of what we currently own and not grumble about the ones what we do not have.
