Day 9 - Steel Mill factory

8.10am
Met at our classroom block to collect our safety helmets before making a trip to the bus to our destination.

We reached the factory at about 8.50 while the guide there gave us a debrief of the history of the factory before we went in. After that, we had a walk through the factory and saw the process of steel making. Wuhan steel factory is founded in 1974 with Japan. The Japanese left the country and came back a few years later thinking that the China people are incapable of running the factory well. However, it stunned them that the country the firm are actually operating fine when they pay them a visit a few years later. On 1978, 12 December, the firm made their first roll of steel.

Conveyor belt used to transport the steel.
'
the furnace is set to a very high temperature to burn the metal into stainless steel. After that. it is being flattened by the machine by 3 times although the machine is capable of flattening it 5 times. It is then washed through the water to ensure that it is clean enough to be roll into a coil. A quality check is then being done. If the steel doesn't pass the required condition it would be sold back to the supplier to be re-manufactured or it would be delivered to other stages of the supply chain.

2pm - IS
Had our first IS lesson today, which was taught by their local lecturer, Grace. She gave us a brief idea of the history of china followed by the government policies, economy of China and many more. what i find interesting is that china is actually governed by different government at certain parts such as beijing, shanghai, taiwan, hong kong, macau, tibet and some minor cities due to racism. these cities are governed by a different set of politics.

Reflection:

I am happy that Singapore is governed by only one party and we are not racist over certain group of people. I feel that governing of different politics in different part of the country may actually cause confusion and fury against different people. I prefer the singaporean way of governing as everyone is being treated equally.
