reflection on Punctuality

Reflection on Punctuality
This post is done in regard to yesterday’s incident…
I was well informed that the meeting time was at 1pm where we were supposed to gather and go for lunch. However, it was changed to 1.30 when no one or little seems to be able to meet the initial meeting time.
I felt remorse and guilty of my wrong doing when the whole group of MDE and ECE students/ staff has to wait for us. Perhaps we could have done better…
After this incident, the outsiders may look at us as a form of rotten apple, teenagers who don’t have a sense of urgency and responsibility. This incident has affected the impression of them towards us Singaporean and the reputation of NP. As an ambassador of not only our school but our country, I felt that there is a strong need for us to do something to amend for our mistakes.
Being late, it has affected the planned schedule and worst still wasted everyone’s time. Because of us being late, the staff had to re- schedule the lunch time and makes another arrangement with the restaurant. All of us reached back to our hostel late and cause everyone not to be able to have dinner. The bus driver also had to rush back home to rest as his work starts early the next day too. The teachers also have to wake up early the next day for her work unlike us who enjoy flexible timing over here.
In future, they may impose stricter rules on us and the whole group may not be able to enjoy the freedom of touring. It may also jeopardize the future students coming to Wuhan to tour. A bad impression stays forever and spreads far and wide while good news always tend to be forgotten easily. Thus, we cannot afford to make any more mistakes in future.
In the event of being late and the rest of the group left, we would have to find our own means of transport to catch up with the rest of the group. What if something happens to us when we were on our own? Who would be responsible?
If given a second chance, I would keep track of the time and further motivate the rest of the group to move on faster and meet the scheduled meeting time. If someone falls behind and had to be taken care of, I would give the teacher a call so that she knows what is going on and may be able to send someone down to handle the situation. I would also try to keep up with the tour guide so that I would not miss out any announcement that she makes and would also make sure that I am always with majority of the tour group.
From this incident, I learnt that punctuality is very vital when we are working as a group. We move as a group and would wait for one another as a group. Due to our delay, we have caused everyone to be affected and had also imprinted a bad impression upon the China local people. I am deeply sorry and remorse of what I had done and would reflect on it. The next trip would be much better than yesterday’s incidence.
